PROM 2016
ALL PICTURES BY J. ASIS PHOTOGRAPHY
So it has been quite a while since I've sat down and blogged. A little more than two months! I've been super busy with school, my job at Plato's Closet, and designing. I thought I should share some Prom 2016 pictures with y'all, featuring the dress I designed.

I wanted to stand out at prom. No crazy colors, no 100 yards of tulle, but something simple, edgy, and so me. I couldn't wait to see my vision come to life.

Am I going to a funeral or prom?

This dress took a week to make in between my crazy schedule. Yes, I did this the week of prom. Yes, it was blood, sweat, and tears. The funniest thing was when people would ask me if I was done with my dress and when I would say no and people would freak out more than I did. Of course I was freaking out because I'm a huge procrastinator, but I knew at the end of the day I would get it done. So thank God I made it happen...or should I say "make it work"? ;)

I worked on it like it was my life. Once I got home after school, I went straight to my sewing machine. After I got off from work at 8pm, I would work until 2am.  Although I'm now sick with a nasty cold, It was definitely worth it.

I bought the fabric from the LA Fabric District. The beaded lace fabric was $19 a yard (I got 1 1/2), and for the skirt and bodice of the dress, I used a black Ponte de Roma fabric at $8 a yard (I got 5 yards because I like getting extra fabric just in case!).

My hair was done by me (because remember, I'm still a broke high school student), my make up by Mac (scroll down for my horror story there) and my stunning lace up suede heels from Aldo!

Behind the scenes:

It was also my first time getting acrylic nails!

What's a prom night without selfies? And let me tell you, it was a crazy and hectic experience just to get ready for prom. Long story short, I got my make up done at the Mac counter at Nordstrom. I got there at 1:50 since my appointment was at 2, but I didn't leave there until 4:20pm. I'm still quite pissed about that. But that's another story.

I'll get back to blogging soon, I promise!
