One of my favorite versatile pieces of clothing are ripped and distressed jeans. Whether you want to dress up or dress down, they add that extra style to any outfit. Also, ripped jeans are super easy to "do-it-yourself" which is a plus because you don't have to spend $40+ dollars on one pair.
LOOK #1 | Baseball Blues: I am wearing a pair of ripped jeans from Cotton On that I bought at the amazing price of $5! I am in love with bargains and sale events, so when I found out that Cotton On was having a liquidation sale at a local mall, I just had to shop (which by the way, I went 3 times in 2 weeks...guilty!).
I went with a very laid back, sporty feel for my first look. My blue baseball style button up from H&M, pleather snapback from Nordstrom BP, and my oh so comfortable Nike Air Max Theas really add on to that vibe. To go with my button up I wore a DIY halter neck top that I made from an old tank. You can find a tutorial to that here: http://atlofysabel.blogspot.com/2014/05/diy-halter-top.html. I absolutely love halter neck tops because I feel that it is so much more stylish than just wearing a basic tank. You can never go wrong with a simple, comfortable outfit when going out! My family and I were adventuring around San Pedro and we came upon this cute little boating dock.
LOOK #2 | Flowy and Free: I went for a more basic, clean-cut, yet edgy look with these ripped jeans. I paired it up with a white peasant top from Plato's Closet. Plato's Closet is a new local thrift store around my area that's quite different and doesn't carry your "grandma and grandpa's" clothes. Instead, there is a wide variety of trendy and modern clothes, accessories, and shoes. I had to check what all the hype was about and I was definitely satisfied that my first pick up was this top! The original price tag was $22, but I got it at a steal for only $9! The loose, sheer fabric of the top and the shoulder cut outs are absolutely perfect for the summer time. This top is also very versatile, and can be worn to the beach and dressed up for family gatherings.
To make this look stand out a bit more, I wore some black chunky heels bought from the LA Fashion District. Similar to the Jeffrey Campbell "Lita," chunky heels make a bold fashion statement. I feel like I walk with a purpose wearing these shoes. For accessories, I went with a heart embroidered bag from H&M and some circle sunglasses from Forever 21.
Fun fact: I actually went to two different places just to take pictures for this outfit. These last three failed pictures were taken on top of a hill in San Pedro where the "Korean Friendship Bell" stands. It was super windy and completely impossible to take just one still shot. However, I redeemed myself and went to my local library's garden which is the first three shots.. As you can see, I had some difficulty with this top, but I pulled through! ;)
